ABOUT US
About Us
San Mateo Family Court Awareness is an advocacy and watchdog organization dedicated to exposing the systemic injustices within the San Mateo Family Court system. We focus on violations of the constitutional rights of self-represented litigants—particularly domestic violence survivors and protective parents—who have experienced unfair treatment in family court proceedings.
Our mission is to raise awareness of these abuses and mobilize the public to hold the family court system accountable.
Our Mission
Our mission at San Mateo Family Court Awareness is to mobilize public engagement and promote transparency within the family court system. We empower individuals to become court watchers, provide training to ensure effective oversight and create a platform for litigants to unite, share their stories, and organize for systemic reform. By fostering a strong, supportive community, we advocate for fair trials, due process, and accountability for self-represented litigants, domestic violence survivors, and protective parents. Through collective action, we aim to bring lasting reform to ensure justice in family courts.
Our Purpose
We advocate for change by telling the stories of those impacted by the family court’s failure to uphold due process, equal protection, and parental rights. By gathering and sharing these personal testimonies, we seek to bring attention to the court’s failings and rally public support for systemic reform.
As a watchdog organization, we are committed to providing transparency and accountability. Our platform highlights the injustices litigants face in the San Mateo Family Court, offering investigative content, case studies, and tools for others to join our cause. We aim to expose violations and ensure that family courts are fair and just, particularly for those navigating the system without legal representation.
Why We Exist
Too many litigants in family court, especially domestic violence survivors and protective parents, find themselves at a disadvantage due to the complexities of the legal system and lack of representation. The result is a systemic failure that strips them of their constitutional rights and leaves families vulnerable. We are here to ensure these voices are heard and that no one faces family court alone or in silence.
We are calling on litigants, advocates, and concerned citizens to join us in exposing these injustices and fighting for accountability in the San Mateo Family Court. By coming together, we can ensure that fairness and justice prevail.

What We Do
Raise Awareness
-
We shine a light on the mistreatment of self-represented litigants, especially those who are domestic violence survivors or protective parents, by sharing their stories with the public, the media, and legal advocates.
Court Watching
-
We encourage the public to attend court hearings as observers, ensuring transparency in family court proceedings. We offer training opportunities for individuals interested in becoming court watchers so they can help monitor and report on the fairness of hearings.
Organize Collective Action
-
We provide a platform for self-represented litigants and their supporters to unite and collectively demand change. This includes organizing rallies, sharing petitions, and filing complaints to the Attorney General to push for reform.
Community Building
-
We offer forums, support groups, and a space for litigants to connect, share their experiences, and provide mutual support by attending each other’s hearings. We can create a stronger, more unified voice in the fight for justice.
Push for Reform
-
We aim to build pressure for reform within the family court system by highlighting patterns of judicial misconduct and systemic bias. Our efforts focus on ensuring that all litigants—especially those without legal representation—receive fair trials, due process, and the protection of their parental rights.
